Many Canadians - especially Ontarians from the area around Toronto - flock to the city on their vacations for one reason - to go shopping! Toronto has some of the best shopping in Canada, so whether you're looking for a great deal on wardrobe staples or you've been searching high and low for high heels designed for people with flat feet, there's a store in Toronto where you can find what you're looking for. Here are some of the shopping highlights of Toronto that you might want to hit on your next trip to the city.

Malls

Toronto has some of the largest shopping malls in Canada which are filled with designer products and popular chain stores. You can pop into Eaton Center in Toronto after your meeting or lunch date, or hop on the Go Train to Mississauga where the fabled Square One Mall awaits. Eaton Center boasts over 250 shops and access to multiple means of transit while Square One has 350 shops and its own public transit hub.

Bloor Street

Even if you can't afford to shop in Canada's most expensive shopping district, no shopping tour of the city would be complete without at least a walk down Bloor Street. Surrounded by swanky cafes and bistros and brimming with expensive wares from Gucci and Prada, Bloor Street is an experience.

One of our favourite stores in the Greater Toronto area is

Markets

Those who book into downtown hotels are lucky because they have great access to the St. Lawrence Market, one of Toronto's biggest indoor markets. There are over 50 food vendors in residence with a special farmer's market on Saturday and an antique market on Sunday. Also worth a trip is the eclectic Kensington Market, where you can find second hand clothes, old hand notchers, ethnic handcrafts, organic food, and even cannabis.

Outlets

For those who are looking to get more for their money, the Dixie Outlet Mall in Mississauga and the Vaughn Mills Mall in North Toronto are must see stops on the shopping tour. With brand name outlets such as Aeropostale and Nine West, no one need know you got your spring wardrobe for cheaper than a package of your baby's diapers at Wal-Mart.

Museums

If you're looking for more eclectic or specialty items to buy friends and family with special interests, a visit to one of the city's museum shops can be just the ticket. Science toys and gadgets reign at the Royal Ontario Museum Shop while the shop at the Hockey Hall of Fame is a great place to buy gifts for the superfan in your life. For Canadian souvenirs that won't break on the way home, the shops at the base of the CN Tower are filled with high end Canadiana.
